Our Charity Fundraising Clients Join Other Nonprofits in Calling for Donations to Help after the Disastrous Nepal EarthquakeMay 1, 2015
Villages near Kathmandu have suffered great losses since last Saturday’s 7.8-magnitude Nepal earthquake. 6,204 people are now confirmed dead. The fate of thousands of others is still unknown. More than 13,000 people have been injured. The Red Cross, already on the ground, told CNN earlier this week that it is “Almost total devastation.” Survivors are in desperate situations in the aftermath of this disaster. Here in Canada, we sincerely want to help.
What can we do to help Nepal recover from such a calamitous natural disaster? While our government has pledged $5 million to help and Canadian Red Cross has started the Nepal Region Earthquake Fund, more help will be needed. Our charity fundraising clients are calling for donations to help in remote areas that have dealt with aftershocks, landslides and other disastrous events since the Nepal earthquake. Please give to these charity clients…
UNICEF Canada has had emergency supplies to Nepal for the past fifty years to help children and families in need. Supplies needed now include tarps, meals, water purifications tablets and hygiene kits to keep survivors in good health. In an effort to continue sending life-saving supplies and services to the region, UNICEF has set up a special fund. Please give to UNICEF to help children and families throughout the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake.
PLAN Canada, a member of the Humanitarian Coalition is working on addressing the core needs of survivors of the Nepal earthquake. PLAN Canada is on the ground in Kathmandu, described now as a city without power with people sleeping out in the streets amidst disastrous ruins of their homes and businesses. PLAN Canada invites donors to make a significant one-time donation or consider sponsoring a child. Please give to PLAN Canada to save lives.
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, through its ChildFund Alliance partner in Nepal, will use donations to provide emergency meals and medical supplies. They’ll supply clean water and sanitation. Plus they’ll distribute emergency supplies, first aid kits and other necessary items throughout the region, including remote villages. Please give to CCFC for a special dollar-for-dollar matching donation promised by the Canadian government.
UNICEF, PLAN Canada and Christian Children’s Fund of Canada make us proud to be their fundraising partner. We’ll do whatever we can to spread the word about their expeditious fundraising efforts. Their presence will combine with other key organizations, such as Doctors Without Borders, SOS Children’s Villages and UN’s World Food Programme, to meet critical needs of more than 29 million Nepalese people after the Nepal earthquake.
